Weekend in Annapolis

It’s a lovely town; we spent the day walking, looking at shops, strolling at the harbor, checking out the boats. Lots of people go there. Lots of people bring their dogs to walk around. I love seeing people take their dogs on family outings. The dogs love it as well. But, there is one thing that drives me crazy! It was hot out. The sidewalk is cooking in the sun. People are walking with shoes on. The dogs aren’t. Can you imagine how hot it is on their feet?? The least their owners could do would be to walk them on the side of the street with shade! Only one dog had boots on. Now, don’t get me wrong; I don’t think all dogs should wear boots, but I do think if you are going to walk your dog on hot pavement, you need to think about your dog’s comfort. On another note, most of the dogs wore dog friendly equipment like Easy Walk harnesses and  flat buckle collars. I was so glad to see this. I saw only one dog all afternoon with a prong collar, I notice that kind of thing. Actually, I think I may be a little obsessed with it. It’s another case of “If I were the queen of the world” I would make sure every dog was able to go places with their family with humane methods of restraint to keep them safe and people that would keep their comfort, physically and mentally, in mind.
